Reservoir Capital Corp. is the latest new listing on the Canadian Securities Exchange, trading under the symbol “REO”, having previously traded on the TSX Venture Exchange.

The company recently completed the acquisition of a 60% interest in Kainji Power Holding Limited, resulting in Reservoir owning an approximately 1.3% indirect minority interest in Mainstream Energy Solutions Limited.

The acquisition gives the company economic exposure to Mainstream Energy Solutions’ two large high-quality hydro dams on the Niger River in Nigeria, which are fully constructed, operating at close to capacity and generating strong free cash flow.

With completion of the transaction, Reservoir becomes a clean power investment vehicle with a minority interest in Nigeria’s leading producing hydropower company and the prospect of an ongoing dividend stream, no project development risk and immediate diversification.

Reservoir’s future investment strategy targets regular income over long periods, as well as substantial capital growth in the medium term.

The company’s investment strategy is to acquire carefully selected minority economic interests, at attractive valuations, in a balanced portfolio of producing or near production clean power assets in frontier markets, with a particular preference for hydroelectric power generation and geothermal power
Generation.

Management believes that there are a variety of producing clean power assets in frontier markets which are sound investments and are struggling to raise international equity capital due to concentrated single country risk, poor or no access to deep and liquid Equity Capital Markets.

There is also the difficulty and cost for sophisticated investors to conduct their due diligence exercise in countries which are not easily accessible and which they do not know well.

As a result, these assets are often relatively cheap and can be extremely attractive investment opportunities, especially when the country risk is mitigated by a geographically diversified portfolio.

The shares are currently trading at $0.04.
