Edgewater Wireless Systems Inc., the industry leader in innovative WiFi Multi-Channel Single Radio technology, has been issued a patent by the United States Patent and Trademark Office for its Automatic Gain Control for a multichannel/wideband communications systems.

Automatic Gain Control enables the company’s Multi-Channel Single Radio networks to deliver more effective, error-free reception and more efficient, data-rich transmission of multi-channel signals.

The company has more than 24 patents in its intellectual property portfolio, created to protect its unique Multi-Channel Single Radio approach to solving the problems of substandard WiFi and wireless performance in high-density residential and commercial environments.

Andrew Skafel, President and CEO, stated: “Edgewater Wireless is pleased the USPTO has awarded this patent further protecting our unique approach. The continuing growth of our IP portfolio has built a strong foundation for enhancing shareholder value and we’re pleased with our revenue growth exiting Q3’19 as we realize the value of our innovations. We’ve continued to ramp with our current customers and have worked to diversify our customer base. We’re proud of our talented team which continues to evolve and improve our products.”

Edgewater’s patented techniques mitigate interference and result in reduced errors and re-transmissions in sending and receiving content – reducing lag or latency.

Low latency or the amount of data going through within a set period of time, is critical for applications such as HD video, streaming and gaming.

Global density will only get worse, with Cisco forecasting that mobile devices and connections will grow to 11.6 billion by 2021.

With this explosive growth in the number of connected devices, existing networks are struggling to keep pace.

The advent of 5G will unlock the potential of the Internet of Things by enabling more connections at once, up to one million per square kilometer, at very low power.

According to Strategy Analytics, global 5G smartphone shipments are forecast to grow from 2 million units in 2019 to an impressive 1.5 billion units in 2025.

Edgewater provides reference designs for easy OEM integration, enabling service providers to plan, build and deploy reliable, high-capacity services to meet data demand in any environment, while fewer access points means lower deployment costs.

The shares are trading at $0.11.
