Today’s buy recommendation comes from PI Financial.

PI Financial has initiated coverage on Gold Standard Ventures (TSXV:GSV) (NYSE MKT:GSV).

Analyst Brian Szeto gives the company a buy recommendation along with a speculative risk rating and a 12-month target of $1.00, a premium of 23% to the $0.81 price on January 21st, the day the report was issued.

Gold Standard is a junior gold exploration and development company currently focused on its 100% owned and controlled Railroad-Pinion property located in Nevada.

The company began the process of land consolidation in 2010 and now has the second largest contiguous land package on the prolific Carlin Trend.

The company quickly made 3 gold discoveries at the project: North Bullion, Pinion, and Dark Star.

It has reported total resources of 1.4 million ounces gold at 0.59 grams per tonne at Pinion, and 400,000 ounces gold at 0.57 grams per tonne at Dark Star.

PI Financial believes the project is capable of supporting an open-pit, heap-leach gold mine with the potential to produce 93,500 ounces per year over a mine life of 13 years, with an all in sustaining cost of only US$587 per ounce of gold equivalent.

Following the January 25th release of additional drill results, Jonathon Awde, President & CEO, stated: “Once again, step-out drilling from known mineralization has successfully extended all of our primary targets while new targets also continue to emerge. The size, continuity and robustness of the Pinion mineralizing system have already exceeded our expectations and there is clearly much more to go.”

Analyst Brian Szeto stated: “We believe Gold Standard offers an opportunity to invest in a junior gold company where its management team has successfully added value through land consolidation, initial resource estimation, and resource expansion.”

The report cautions that investors should be aware additional capital of US$90 million will be required to reach production, as well as a need to fund future exploration programs.

The shares are currently trading at $0.91, and with 168 million shares outstanding, the company is capitalized at $153 million.
