Ion Energy is one of the latest new listings on the TSX Venture Exchange, trading under the symbol “ION”, following its qualifying transaction with Capital Pool Company Spirit Banner Capital.

Ion Energy, through its wholly owned subsidiary Ion Energy LLC has 100% ownership of the Baavhai-Uul exploration license, which covers 81,759 hectares located in the southeastern part of Mongolia, approximately 24 kilometers north of the border with China.

The project is located in the arid Gobi desert, with high evaporation rates and low precipitation rates, that are considered optimal for lithium brine extraction.

In 2016, a research team from the Faculty of Geology and Mining Engineering at The Mongolian University of Science and Technology conducted regional geochemical sampling from various dry salt lakes in southeastern provinces to evaluate lithium potential.

The team collected 11 samples from the two dry lakes located at significant distances apart from each other on Ion’s property, which returned significant anomalous lithium grades ranging from 211 parts per million to 810 parts per million from both locations, potentially indicating the presence of continental lithium brine.

The company has started a two-phased exploration program, with the first phase including surface geochemical sampling of sediments and brine using auger drilling on a 200 meter x 200 meter grid, geological mapping, and a geophysical survey to define the basin shape, geological formations and structural features.

With Mongolia set to become a major player in the Lithium Sector, management believes the company has a strong location advantage over South American producers.

There are a large number of Lithium battery factories in China, with 5 Gigafactories planned, and nearby Korea, Taiwan and Japan have large tech industries utilizing and manufacturing Lithium batteries.

Ali Haji, CEO, stated: "We are excited to have reached this significant milestone, having exceeded the TSXV minimum financing listing requirement twofold. Governments around the world are touting a green recovery from COVID and we believe we are well positioned to be a part of this clean energy revolution. With our TSXV listing, ION Energy expects to capture Canadian and global investors looking to capitalize on this increased demand for Lithium. Mongolia is well positioned to supply the major markets of the world and we are keen to get exploration underway."

The shares are trading at $0.36.
