Omai Gold Mines, formerly Anconia Resources, is one of the latest new listings on the TSX Venture Exchange, trading under the symbol “OMG”, following its reverse takeover with Avalon Investment Holdings.

Through its wholly owned subsidiary, Avalon Gold Exploration, the company holds a 100% interest in the Omai Prospecting License, which covers 4,590 acres, including the past producing Omai gold mine in Guyana, South America.

Mining at Omai has been recorded since the late 19th century.

The high grade open-pit Omai Gold Mine was once South America’s largest producing gold operation.

When it was operating as a modern mine between 1992 and 2006, Omai produced 3.7 million ounces of gold at an average grade of 1.5 grams per tonne gold from two open pits: the Fennell pit and the Wenot pit.

In addition to exploring the continuations of the Wenot and Fennell mineralized bodies, the company plans to explore other near-surface exploration targets, namely Broccoli Hill, which is directly east of the Fennell pit and has been the subject of a large geochemical survey with promising results.

Because of its extensive mining history, the Omai Gold Mines holds a vast amount of historical data and information about the property including significant historical drilling and core database, roads, airstrip and ferry landing.

Following the closing of the RTO, the company has a total of 189.9 million common shares issued and outstanding.

The shares are trading at $0.27.
